Border Round Robins

The starter provides a center block of a decent size (15" - 20" finished) and a theme or color. Each participant then adds a border. Border width ranges can be set by starter, or chosen as a group to be applied to all the quilts for a more unified collection of quilts. The ranges can be something like the 1st border is to be 3" wide, 2nd border 7" wide, 3rd border 2" wide and so on. You can also be more adventurous and leave the borders up to the discretion of each participant to choose as they feel the quilt dictates. The border can be a straight border, or the block can be turned on point adding triangle border pieces, or a mixture.

When adding a border, if you will be using a repeating block motif that is differently spaced than the previous border, put a narrow strip border in between.

The more people in your group, the bigger the finished product will be. Just remember, the bigger it gets, the more time, effort, & fabric will be required. It is amazing how creative each border can end up!
